SCAFFOLDING Tour Double Bill
Documental Productions are excited to be touring our play Scaffolding.
The play is inspired by stories told to us by members of Documental Productions’ Sing and Sign Jukebox Choir, which is our inclusive Makaton choir for carers and adults with learning disabilities. You can see the choir in action here https://youtu.be/_A9isrnPiPA
The choir had a new First this year as we started to perform original songs created by carers and the people they support in our community.
Our actor, Kerry, will lead in performing a handful of our carer-written songs set to Makaton signs as well as a couple of classic pop songs - and we are looking for local choirs to join her! An increasing number of choirs sign while they sing – it is a great way to memorise lyrics, make the lyrics accessible to people with memory and communication difficulties, it looks fabulous, and also, it’s a lot of fun!
The process:
Join choir leaders Lucy Bell and Jo Rogers for 1 Zoom session to learn some Makaton signs and how to perform them to music
We will share the backing tracks and lyrics in advance so you could familiarise yourselves with the songs.
Interested folk will get a free ticket to the show and then be invited to get up and participate in singing alongside actor and vocalist Kerry Norton.
All levels of ability are welcome, and we will have a projection of the signs too. The set of songs will include a couple of well-known classics.
The dates of the double bill / curtain raisers (7.30pm): ● 26 April, Amble Parish Hall
