Hello all Last Sunday I held a LIVE Masterclass Day at Howick Village Hall and it was marvellous fun! I can't wait to get going on the next set of online masterclasses. It was suggested to me that we could honour some of the artists who have sadly died during 2023 and it would be a chance to have a good rummage through the back catalogue of Tony Bennett, Sinead O'Connor, Tina Turner, Barrett Strong, Jimmy Buffett, Astrud Gilberto, Gordon Lightfoot (sorry if any of those come as a shock to you!) - I know lots of you like to do your research so I will leave that with you, just let me know which songs you choose. Let's call that the 'Remembering' Class. I'll also include an Opera/Musical Theatre Class, and a Winter Songs theme (which can include all of the Christmas songs too) to get your minds whirring! The way masterclasses work (open to all, regardless of experience): working on Zoom, I group together (usually) three participants who have prepared a song to share (but remember it's a work in progress not a finished performance), and after a warm up you take it in turns to sing and receive 15/20 mins tuition. Also of course you can listen to the tips I give the other singers. It's a good idea to have another device with a backing track - even if the original artist is on the track, I will normally only hear you so it is fine. Our talented, generous and supportive participants are a delight and it is good to spend time with them. Here is the list of classes - if the dates don't work for you please let me know and I can usually move things around a little. I have a big library of sheet music so I may be able to send you the 'dots'. And can I stress - it's NOT intended to be a scary experience and you should enjoy it! Give it a go......
