Who We Are
Formed in 2010, Harbour Lights is a Community Choir based in Amble, Northumberland. We are a friendly, relaxed singing group open to everyone
The Community Choir began following a series of Workshops led by Flora Smith, under the umbrella of 20,000 Voices; a singing charity. Flora was aware that Amble did not have a choir and thought life in the town would be better with one - so she made it happen!

Since then we have gone from strength to strength. In early 2020, we numbered 55 regular choir members. The success of the choir has been down to Flora and her successor as Choir Leader, Sarah Gray.
What We Do
We Sing!

And - we have a good time! Singing with us is fun, healthy, stimulating, relaxing and expressive.
Singing is also credited with developing many life skills; concentration, focus, linguistic, creative and social skills, building relationships, as well as musical ability.
Our Choir Leader - Sarah Gray
Sarah is a singer, songwriter, choir leader and vocal coach who works throughout the North East, Cumbria and Scotland. She took over as caretaker leader in Spring 2017 from her friend and founder leader, Flora Smith. She says that she loved leading the choir so much she decided to stay! Since making this decision, she's written songs for us, led us in many performances and has thoroughly embraced choir life!

In March 2020, in response to the Covid-19 lockdown, she took the choir online via ZOOM so we could continue to get our fix of singing each week. And, just as important, have the chance to catch up with all our choir friends.

The choir sessions are a joy under Sarah’s leadership. She gets the best out us with her good humour, patience and belief in us as singers. She is more a friend than a task master!
